ID: Slimeboy

As a 2D-Platformer with focus on Character Movement, Slimeboy has a wonderful feeling of Jump, Run and Hit and also requires tactical skill to effectivly use the world change feature.

Biber Bach Productions

This game was created with a group of friends and started as a simple Project for our studies. Pleased with the result, we decided to further develop the game and plan on releasing a finished game on steam, including features like procedural Level Generation, Story and Character Progression.

Gameplay

ID: Slimeboy allows you to swap between the upper and lower world. In order to do this, you need to eliminate any enemy, who will spawn a portal at the end positon of its body. The body itself can be punched around before the portal spawn to adjust the location.

The levels are carefully created to support this feature and they give the player many opprtunities to plan out tactics around it.

Features

Different Enemies, PowerUps and other coming features provide a diversed gameplay and entertain the Player throughout the story and the handcrafted levels.

Shortcuts in the map can be found everywhere and used to skip big parts of a level. Maintaining coordination and finding the shortcuts is the challenge of using them.

 

Levegenerator

A procedural Level Generation provides an extra mode for quick rounds. I created this for my bachelor thesis and concentrated as much on the implementation as on the theoretical aspects of a level generator.

It is highly adjustable, from basics like size and objects spawn to complex adjustments like the difficulty of level structure. These adjustments can be done manually but also automatically. On a playtrough the player will be analysed in simple factors like speed and deaths but also how fast he/she processes through levels and with which things the player struggles the most. Depending on the statistics the next level will be adjusted accordingly.

For our first Game Jam, “Biber Bach Productions” participated in Ludum Dare 48 with the theme “Deeper and Deeper” and made the game “Lil’ Drill”.

In order to dig deeper and deeper into a planet to get deeper and deeper into space, you need to gain as much height and power as possible and land afterwards on the drill to push it further into the planet.

To gain height, you need to jump on asteroids, but be careful, they can push you just as much down as up.
